Happy Memorial Day

In the 70's the kick off of my summer was the big parades that started on Memorial Day. I marched with a drill team for the VFW. At that time I respected the veterans but did not appreciate them as I now do as an adult. Still not quite understanding foreign wars and sickened by the violence in our own country, I salute all of you that have fought for our country. I send a prayer of peace to families that have lost anyone to war at home or abroad.

Woke Up & Smelled the Roses

The wonderful smell of spring. My roses are all blooming. All 3 bushes have been cut back drastically and it seems that they are all bigger than ever. As good as that seems, all of the other plants that I've rescued from the clearance rack at Lowes last year are so much bigger also. My original intent was to share some of the plants with my nephew who is a new home owner and his dad who also purchased a home in 2009. Well needless to say I am searching for space in the ground in my small yard so that I can keep all of the plants. After careful planning and planting, I will not have to go to the store and spend a fortune on flowers. A couple annuals to add color to green areas is all that is needed.

Happily Everafter

Something old and Something New

Something New...New to my collection of aprons is the Brides Maid Apron. 3 tiers of ruffles in shades of pink. The top ruffle has pictures of wedding cakes. I think that this would be perfect for celebrating your anniversary. He will never forget it.

Something Old ...I made this puff quilt many years ago. At the time my friend and I both decided to make one. It took a week to make the puffs, one week to assemble and a week to get that ruffle on. It was extremely heavy by the end of the project. Because we inspired each other with our comforters, this peice is very special to me. (R.I.P. Ramona)
